Q: What does making grape jam have to do with mountaineering?
A: shut up. Actually, maybe deseeding grapes helps improve your crimp strength?

We have a grape vine that produces about 100kg every year. That's a lot of grapes. Grape jam is delicious, but you need to separate the seeds from the grapes which involves some manual labour. Given the untapped potential of manual labourers in the Mountaineering Club, we thought we should throw a big jam-making party / social event to kick off the new year.

We will provide:

  • Grapes
  • Sugar
  • Some snacks

You will provide:

  • Glass jars to bring home your jam in. Any reused jars from the supermarket will do if you'll store in the fridge and eat sooner rather than later, but will not work for long term storage. You can pick up proper canning or mason jars in op shops though
  • Some snacks (optional)

I'll email more details to those who sign up, including our address in Hackett.
