Archived trip from old website run by Alana

Avoid the ski resort crowds and explore the tranquillity of the alpine backcountry on snowshoes on this easy snowshoe walk to the eastern end of Rams Head Range in Kosciuszko National Park. We'll be joining Mika and his boys, walking from Dainers Gap (1640m) on the Kosciuszko Rd in a southerly direction past frozen Rainbow Lake to Pretty Point (aka Hunters View). This seldom-visited low knoll of about 1800m on the edge of the Rams Head Range has good views of the Thredbo Valley, some 800m below. This snowshoe walk is suitable for beginners and will be a great chance to spend a day exploring the beautiful Australian alpine environment without much effort. The route will cover no more than 6km through a mix of open country and snow gum woodland and involves no long arduous mountain climbs.

A list of gear to bring will be circulated before the trip.

As per trip description. Mika and his 2 boys may separate from the group to do a shorter trip. If so, the remainder of the group will contuinue as planned and Mika will return to the cars.
