Archived trip from old website run by bootman

A walk to the top of Yankee Hat south and then down to Middle creek visiting the granite boulders and features along the way. The walk is mostly in very thick under growth. The walk will mostly follow a John Evans blog post that you can find at http://www.johnevans.id.au/wp/8-september-2015-yankee-hat-slabs-and-middle-creek/. We'll make a detour to walk to the top.

The walk is about 15 Km and will likely take 7-8 hours. We'll meet at the ANU SRA at 8 am and drive to the Yankee Hat rock art car park. I'm aiming to return to the ANU around 7 pm. In the event of bad weather I will cancel the trip.

I have attempted this walk before but we abandoned reaching the top after 3-4 hours of hard bush bashing. The majority of the hike is through very thick undergrowth and middle creek is surrounded by bushes with needle thin thorns. This walk is not for anyone that doesn't like to punish themselves.

Pants or leg protection, good hiking shoes and at least 2l of water are essential. I will not be taking you if you're not appropriately prepared for 8 hours of suffering in thick bush. There is water in Middle Creek but I'm unsure of its quality. I plan on keeping the pace high so we make it back before dark. Please only sign up if you are fit enough for many hours of bush bashing.

As detailed in the description.
