This one-day mostly off-track ramble to Thunder Bluff provides expansive views across Namadgi. Madgi's Thunder Bluff is a huge granite slab up to 60m high facing the upper valley of Rendezvous Creek. Starting at Orroral Valley (~940m) the first 4 km of the walk is along the nursery swamp walking track and a foot track to the saddle (~1200m) above Rendezvous Creek. This is followed by a strenuous 2.2km NE ascent to Thunder Bluff (1434m). This section is likely to be slow going with moderate to thick scrub (long sleeve shirts and pants recommended!).

For the return trip we'll may drop off  steeply (300m over 0.7km) through more scrub until Nursery Creek (~1100m) or following the spur that we came up, followed by 1.3km pf much easier walking downstream to pick up the footpad for the final 5km track back to the cars at Orroral Valley. 

Total length: 12.5 km (about 3km off-track) with around 550m elevation.
