Archived trip from old website run by Ivan Dovana

Hey team,

I'm stuck in Canberra this Easter and am also procrastinating on writing an essay so aim to spend the morning doing a southern section of the Centenary Trail. The trail loops around Canberra and includes bike paths and dirt tracks.

Starting from the ANU Sports Centre, the aim is to ride the segment from Black Mountain through to Greenway (map here). Depending how we feel we can ride or catch the bus back. An alternate escape route is by finishing early at Mt Arawang. Total distance to Greenway is around 30km and I'm aiming to take 3-4 hrs total so please be realistic about your fitness.

Minimum equipment:

  • A serviceable bicycle (able to handle dirt trails)

  • Helmet

  • Spare tube

  • Water (minimum 3L)

  • Snacks

  • Sunscreen

  • MyWay card

Coffee stops (and water refills) are available at Stromlo, Duffy and Chapman.
