Rogaining: the sport of long distance cross country navigation. Rogaines are generally day and night events in which teams of two to five members travel entirely on foot, navigating by map and compass. Teams normally select their own order of visiting checkpoints. Events range in time from 3 to 24 hours. Teamwork, endurance, competition, and an appreciation of the natural environment are features of the sport.

The ACT rogaining championships are held around Yarrangobilly Village in the Northern Kosciuszko National Park this year. There are two possible lengths to compete in: the 8 hour event and the 24 hour event. Both events start at midday Saturday April 28th. There is optional overnight camping after the 8 hour event if you do not want to drive straight back to Canberra. If you don't want to drive at all there is a bus to the event. Like usual, there will be food provided after the rogaine.
