Archived trip from old website run by Ivan Dovana

This session is open to members participating in the Canyon Leader Skills sessions and up to four beginners.

The aim is to practice basic abseiling/canyoning skills in the lead up to summer (canyoning season). For the more advanced participants it's an opportunity to brush up on the skills to make you eligible for the canyon leader training subsidy.

The Legoland boulder field, in Namadgi National Park, provides a canyon like environment in which to practice skills. We will meet at the front of ANU Sport at 0800 and head up to Orroral Ridge. We will practice skills for a few hours with an expected return to ANU by 1500.

I will organise group and personal gear. Please let me know if you need any of the following:

Harness

Helmet

Carabiners

Belay device (figure 8 or ATC)

Prussik cord

If you have your own personal gear please bring this along.

Clothing should be appropriate for a cool outdoor setting. Bring water and lunch.

Drive to car park at Orroral Ridge and walk to lego land. Practice skills for 3-4 hours then return to ANU.
