Do you want to be a canyoning trip leader? Do you have what it takes? Please read carefully before signing up.

I’m looking at growing the canyoning experience within the club. The intent is to run a number of indoor and outdoor sessions over the next 3-6 months to develop up-and-coming trip leaders in the skills necessary to lead beginner level or co-lead more complex canyon trips.

This is a rare opportunity for members who have shown a genuine interest in canyoning and leading trips. Topics which will be covered include:

  • Abseiling and ascending techniques

  • Anchor and rope setup

  • Instruction and supervision techniques

  • Trip planning

  • Rescue techniques

Depending on Covid-19 and weather limitations, the intent is to run a number of horizontal and vertical, wet and dry canyons before the end of the year.

To participate you must:

  • Have led at least one ANUMC trip (in any discipline)

  • Be able to abseil and prussick without supervision

  • Be able to dedicate at least half a day every second Sunday

Please contact me before signing up.
